Spread the Word.  If you know of someone with kids ages 8 to 13 that might be interested in learning to sail, tell them about us and refer them to our website.

If you know any high school kids in grades 8 through 12, who would like to learn to sail or already know how to sail and might be interested in joining our high school sailing team, have them call Dan Russell at 919-469-1668 or check out CSF's website or the sailing team’s website http://freewebs.com/ghhs_sailing

If you know adults that would like to learn to sail have them contact Roy Rysdon at 919-469-1808 or send him an email at windyroy@bellsouth.net .

Make a Tax-Deductible Financial Contribution Since being chartered in 2002, the foundation’s growth has been exponential. As we continue to grow, our costs increase.  We now own 6 Optis, 2 420’s, a Flying Scot, a small motorboat used by instructors, and four trailers.  As a result, our insurance and maintenance costs have grown significantly.  We need to establish a reserve fund for replacing our equipment in the future.  The new 420’s, a gift in memory of John Nicholson, need to be protected with boat covers.  We need a second small motorboat for instructors.  As our high school program and adult sailing programs grow, we will need more 420's and another Flying Scot.  We would like to be able to offer more scholarships to students, where appropriate,  and to help potential sailing instructors become certified.

So, costs are going up.  But, we still must keep our tuition charges competitive with costs of other activities kids and adults may choose.  This means that while our programs are ramping up, our operating income is less than our operating costs.  We need your donations to help make up the difference.

Make your check out to Carolina Sailing Foundation, indicate on the memo line that it is a donation, and mail it to Donna Wooster, CSF Treasurer, 1607 Lorraine Road, Raleigh, NC 27607.

Make a Tax-Deductible Donation of a Boat.  If you have a boat that you are no longer using that is in working condition, or can be made so relatively easily  and inexpensively, consider donating it to CSF.  If we can use it in our sailing program, we will do so.  If not, we will clean it, put it in working order, sell it, and use the proceeds to buy a more suitable boat for our needs or to help fund our sailing program.

To talk with us about donating a boat, call John Norton 919-604-0842

Become a Certified Instructor and Teach Classes.  If you are a small-boat sailor, are reasonably comfortable driving a small motorboat, consider becoming a U.S. Sailing Certified Small Boat Sailing Instructor and help us teach young kids, highschoolers, or adults how to sail.

Go to the U.S. Sailing website page that describes their Instructor and Coaching program http://www.ussailing.org/training/coaching/index.htm  and read about their Level 1 Instructor Course.

U.S. Sailing’s Training Calendar will tell you when and where classes are scheduled.

Volunteer in a Non-Teaching Capacity.  There are a number of ways you could help us with a class, ranging from taking pictures of the kids to be posted on our website, to towing the boats to and from the lake on the Opti trailer.

We also can use help with functions that aren’t related to our classes.  These include putting together a Junior Sailing newsletter, helping to manage our website, doing fund raising, creating promotional brochures, or building a student data base, an instructor data base, or a donor/potential donor database.

Depending on your interests, your talents, and your schedule, you may be able to help us in ways we haven’t thought of.

If you want to talk with us about how you can help the foundation, "CONTACTS" will tell you who to get in touch with and how to reach them,
