Boats Used in Our Sailing Programs
Junior Sailing Program:

OPTIs
. The boat used by the sailors in our junior sailing program is the Opti (International Optimist Dinghy). It’s a robust, 8 ft. single-handed dinghy that can easily be managed by children and provides a learning platform that is superb. It is the most popular boat in the world for teaching kids to sail. The foundation owns a number of Optis that are available for charter, or you can bring your own boat.

High School Sailing Program:
420s
. The high school sailing program uses 420s, a 14-foot, doublehanded, light, simple, and responsive boat that is the boat of choice for high school and college sailing teams in the U.S.

Adult Sailing Program:
Flying Scots.
The adult sailing program uses Flying Scots. The Scot is a
very stable boat and will comfortably accommodate 4 adults and an instructor.
It is 19 feet long, 6 feet 9 inches wide (beam), and weighs 850 pounds.
The sail plan includes a mainsail, a jib, and a spinnaker.
